iADC艺术设计博物馆位于深圳宝安区沙浦艺术城的心脏地带，其本质是在以前未被开发的土地上，为新社区建造起一处文化中心和时代地标。 The Art & Design Museum, situated at the heartof Shapu Art Town in Shenzhen's Baoan District, is designed as a cultural huband landmark for a new neighbourhood built on a previously undeveloped plot ofland.

iADC艺术设计博物馆将一处于最近建造完成的艺术空间“艺术镇”，作为设计的垂足，或称之为锚点，以此将一系列的工作室，画廊，艺术学校和展览空间集群，连接到一个高度统一的文化区域。 The Museum anchors Art Town—a group of recentlybuilt spaces for the arts—linking the cluster of studios, galleries, artschools, and exhibition spaces into a unified cultural district.

Together, they define thedistrict—which had no history or sense of identity—as a major destination forthe arts.

而设计师为了给曾经出现断层的，非连贯区域创造出一处核心，从而在其中加入了公共聚集场所和步行道的通达网络，进一步将其周围的环境组织成为以博物馆为中心的，极具凝聚力的社区之中。 To create a core for the previously disjointedarea, the design introduces a network of public gathering places and walkwaysthat organize the surroundings into a cohesive neighbourhood centred on theMuseum.

iADC艺术设计博物馆将画廊空间抬离地面，或者说，使它以一种悬浮的状态，存在于一个浮动空间里，可以说该设计打开了一个跨越场地长度的公共广场。广场被连接到博物馆地下室的下沉式庭院所打断，并借力创造出了一个新的社区中心，同时将艺术镇的主街道与区域的其他部分连接起来，提供给人们一个新型的动感的社交场所。 Lifting the galleries off the ground andsuspending them in a floating volume, the design opens a public plaza thatspans the site's length. Punctuated by sunken courtyards connected to theMuseum's basement, the plaza creates a new neighbourhood centre that links ArtTown Main Street with the rest of the district and offers a lively gatheringplace. iADC艺术设计博物馆近景

iADC艺术设计博物馆的设计创造了一个标志性的物理存在和视觉焦点，它强调的是一种更为开放的体验感；其外墙立面由一系列的折痕铰接而成，而靠近地面的部分则以一种剥离结构的形式呈现，从而为展示公共广场的景观提供了充分的空间，同时创造了能够供人们对于内部艺术作品惊鸿一瞥的全透明的高光时刻；另一方面，在外墙饰面上的褶皱，最远离建筑的角落，设计师设置了一个入口，由此引领游客穿过从一楼盘踞而上的楼梯，直抵画廊空间。 The design of the Museum building creates aniconic presence and visual focal point in the area while emphasising a sense ofopenness. The facade is articulated by a series of folds, peeling away from thestructure as it nears the ground to reveal the public plaza and creatingmoments of transparency that afford glimpses of the art inside. The facadesfold away from the corner of the building, opening an entrance that ushers’visitors towards the grand stairway up to the galleries.

iADC艺术设计博物馆内景 iADC艺术设计博物馆的内部空间如鸟儿的翅膀一般，被分成两翼，一边，展示中国艺术，另一边，展示当代设计。这两处展示空间围绕着中央楼梯相互交错。 Inside, the Museum is split into two wings—onedisplaying Chinese art, the other exhibitions of contemporary design—thatinterlock around a central staircase.

通过博物馆水平维度的盘旋上升，建筑的折叠立面则不断为来访者打开了眺望艺术镇的视野，同时增强了博物馆和周围区域之间的联系感。 Ascending through the Museum, the folding facades openviews over Art Town, enhancing the sense of connection between the Museum andthe surrounding district.
